Reciprocity Application-Florida
|
|
Persons wishing to transfer into the state of Louisiana from Florida must fill
out and return a reciprocity application to the Louisiana State Board office,
along with the required fees and documentation. Please see reciprocity
application located under the application tab
AFTER YOU HAVE READ ALL THE
INFORMATION BELOW.
A cosmetologist license is the only license that is transferable to Louisiana as
a reciprocity transfer. Nail specialist, facial specialist and full specialist
are considered specialty registrations, and therefore,
are not transferable to
Louisiana for licensure by reciprocity. Instead, applicants must find a
registered Louisiana school of their choice and complete additional hours to
obtain a manicurist (nail) or esthetician (facial) license in the State of
Louisiana.
Florida must certify that the
hours earned for these specialty registrations
are
transferable by providing a transcript and a certification of hours from Florida
sent directly to a LA school of your choice. The Louisiana school will then
evaluate the training received. Once evaluated, the applicant will receive
credit towards a Louisiana license at a maximum of the following rates:
LICENSED BEFORE 2021
LICENSED IN OR AFTER 2021
Nail Specialist 240 hours
Nail Specialist 180 hours
Facial Specialist 260 hours
Facial Specialist 220 hours
Full Specialist 500 hours
Full Specialist 400 hours
** Please note: The Louisiana school reserves the right to accept less hours
than listed above. This will mean the remaining hours will increase. Once the
applicant has completed their required number of hours in a registered Louisiana
school, and submitted all required fees, they will then become eligible to take
the required complete set of examinations. (National, State, and Practical)
